Wright Motorsports Returns to IMS Seeking Another Strong Battle On The Bricks Result
Wright Motorsports heads to the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week for the TireRack.com Battle On The Bricks, the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, with the Ohio-based Porsche team looking to return to the top step of the podium at a venue where they have achieved tremendous success.
Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott will be piloting the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) for the Indianapolis sprint round, as the Battle On The Bricks returns to its two-hour, 40-minute format this season after previously being contested as a six-hour endurance event.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been a particularly successful venue for Wright Motorsports in recent years. Adelson and the team captured victory in the 2024 edition of the Battle On The Bricks before finishing second in last year's event, giving the group two consecutive podium finishes at the iconic Brickyard, a streak they are aiming to expand on.
For Ilott, Indianapolis offers an especially familiar setting. The British driver has made three starts in the Indianapolis 500 with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, along with additional experience competing on the Speedway's road course layout. His extensive knowledge of the venue adds another valuable asset as Wright Motorsports looks to continue its strong record at the Brickyard.
“It’s been a season full of highs and lows for us, but I’m feeling good about coming back to IMS,” said Adam Adelson. “It’s been a great track for us, and with all of the development we’ve done over the year, I feel optimistic about getting good results for the remainder of this season. Callum’s driven here quite a bit too, so that extra experience will be great to have!”
“I consider this a home race in a way,” added Callum Ilott. “This should be an exciting one. I had my debut with Wright Motorsports here a few years ago in a different series. I think we’ve got a good package for IMS. We’ve worked a little bit more on the car and we had a good test at Road Atlanta recently as well and found a couple of things that could benefit us quite well. I’m looking forward to it and it will be fun with Adam!”
Wright Motorsports will take to the track on Friday, September 18, for Practice 1, with Practice 2 and GTD qualifying scheduled for Saturday. The TireRack.com Battle On The Bricks will take place Sunday, September 20, beginning at 3:10 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live in the United States on NBC and Peacock, with international coverage available via the IMSA YouTube channel.
