Wright Motorsports is heading to the West Coast as they return to the narrow streets of Long Beach for the third round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the first sprint race of the 2026 season. Full-season drivers Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott are looking to carry momentum from a strong podium finish at the Twelve Hours of Sebring into the 100-minute street battle on board their No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.
The Grand Prix of Long Beach presents a unique challenge as the championship transitions from endurance racing to a sprint format for the upcoming round in California on the unforgiving temporary street circuit.
Notably, Adelson returns to his home state for the Southern California event as he prepares to make his third appearance in the Long Beach race. Ilott, meanwhile, brings valuable experience from past years in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Their combined knowledge of the narrow street circuit and its nuances will be an asset as Wright Motorsports tackles one of the most technical tracks on the calendar.
The team is entering the weekend on a high note following a hard-fought third-place podium result at Sebring, further providing a strong foundation as the team shifts focus to the shorter, high-intensity 100-minute sprint format. With limited passing opportunities and no margin for error within the confines of the tight corners and concrete barriers, precision and execution will be key as the Porsche team takes on the 1.968-mile, 11-turn course.
“Long Beach is a really important race for myself and for the team,” said Adam Adelson. “It’s the first of the sprint round of the year. I think it’s imperative for us to try and carry the momentum from our podium at Sebring and continue to try and get good results. I believe the track at Long Beach favors a car like the Porsche, with it having a lot of low-speed corners and hard acceleration zones. For us it’s about focusing on flawless execution and trying to finish as high up the order as we possibly can.”
“I’m very excited for Long Beach,” added Callum Ilott. “I’ve raced here quite a few times now on the IndyCar side, but this will be my first time in a GT3 on a street track. I’m really looking forward to it, especially after the momentum we’re bringing in from Sebring. I’m confident that we’ll be able to do a good job here. It’s going to be fun. This place is never easy, but I can’t wait to get out there and see what we can do.”
The third round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and first sprint race on the calendar will take place on April 17th and 18th, 2026. The 51st Annual Grand Prix of Long Beach is scheduled for Saturday, with the field going green for 100 minutes at 1:05 PM PT. Live television broadcast coverage will be available on NBC and Peacock, with an international stream available on the IMSA YouTube channel.
