Wright Motorsports Aims to Continue Endurance Success at Road America

Wright Motorsports heads to Road America this upcoming weekend looking to continue its impressive endurance form as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns for the newly expanded six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix.

The trio of drivers, featuring the full-season pairing of Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott and endurance co-driver Tom Sargent, recently completed a pre-event test at America’s National Park of Speed with the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in preparation for the fourth round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

After recording podium finishes in two of the season's first three endurance events, including third at the Twelve Hours of Sebring and a runner-up finish in the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, the Ohio-based Porsche team is coming into the old-school Wisconsin circuit with momentum on its side.

The strong results in their 2026 campaign have positioned the group third in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup standings while the team currently sits sixth in the overall GTD championship heading into the second half of the season.

The event marks the first time Road America has been contested as a six-hour race, adding another strategic endurance challenge to one of North America's most celebrated and historic road courses. 

“I’m so excited that we get to race at Road America for six hours,” said Adam Adelson. “It’s an amazing race track with such a rich history and it totally deserves an endurance event. I feel quite good about our opportunity to be competitive there, we had a great test recently and I can’t wait.”

“ Road America is a great track that I've always enjoyed racing at,” added Callum Ilott. “It's going to provide a lot of action this time for a six-hour race compared to the sprint format from previous years. We had a good test, which was really positive between all three drivers, and I think we found a good direction with the car. Looking forward to seeing what we can do as a team!”

“ I'm very excited to be going back to IMSA again for another endurance round,” expressed Tom Sargent. “We’ve had some really good success this year so far in endurance races, with two podium finishes from three starts. The longer races have played to our strengths. We make good strategy calls and we always manage to put ourselves in the right position at the end. Road America has normally been known for producing carnage-filled sprint races, so I’m not expecting it to be any different now that it is stretched to six hours. I think this circuit should suit us a little bit more than Watkins Glen did, so it’s promising to know that we are coming off a strong finish there and our test at Road America went really well. I think we’re looking good coming into this weekend.” 

Wright Motorsports will be back on track at Road America starting on Friday, July 31st, for Practice 1, with Practice 2 and Qualifying to follow on Saturday. The Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix will go green at 10:40 a.m. CT on Sunday, August 2nd, with flag-to-flag coverage available on Peacock, as well as internationally via the IMSA YouTube channel.
