BATAVIA, OH (May 1, 2018) - This weekend, Wright Motorsports is set to return home for Rounds 5 and 6 of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The weekend is poised to be nothing short of exciting for the Batavia Ohio-based team as Max Root, Charlie Luck, Anthony Imperato and Fred Poordad each take on the 2.4 mile, 15 turn road-course for the first time.
Still fresh off of his double-victory at Barber Motorsports Park, Charlie Luck hopes to keep the victory steak alive as he heads to the Ohio road course for the first time. Having already scored three wins on the season, Luck will enter the weekend with a healthy 14-point championship lead in the Platinum Masters category.
Having shown tremendous speed and race craft in the opening rounds of the championship, Hurley Haywood scholar, Max Root is prepared to take on yet another new track. With one podium on the season and a stronger understanding of the platform, the California native hopes to impress at the classic Ohio road course.
Another one to watch is Anthony Imperato, who heads into the weekend fourth in the Platinum category championship standings. After his incredible drive from twelfth to fourth place at Barber Motorsports Park, the New Yorker was left with all of the momentum he needs to go for another set of podiums. He plans on doing just that at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
After starting off the year strong with two podium finishes in Sebring, Fred Poordad intends on bouncing back Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Having shown tremendous pace within the field, the Texas native has proved that he knows exactly what it takes to do so.
The first of two 45-minute Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA races at Mid-Ohio is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 5, with Race 2 set for 9:15 a.m. Sunday, May 6. Both races will be streamed live on IMSA.tv .

Charlie Luck // Driver, No. 45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – “ Most of the drivers competing this weekend are new to Mid-Ohio, so I think it’s going to put a premium on the ability to learn and adapt quickly. The teams who make sense of the track conditions, car setup and driver lines are going to be ahead, which is where Wright Motorsports has an edge with it being their home track. If you’re fast out of the box it’s going to set you up in a more advantaged fashion so the promoter test will be important. It also puts extra pressure on pre-track preparation and doing as many things as possible to prepare yourself. I’m really looking forward to it; maybe a little bit more anxious than I would be at a track we had been to last year, but I think that’s natural for everyone. I’m excited to get the weekend started.”
