Wright Motorsports Team Invades Road Atlanta

Atlanta, GA, April 2, 2007 - Wright Motorsports has returned from a soggy and pollen filled Road Atlanta PCA trip. Those of us with allergies are still trying to shake the affects of 5499 particles per square inch! Making their way down to the event were: Rick and Reed Koehler F 911's, Andy Hauck 996 GT3 (GTC3) and new customer Phillip Martien 2002 GT3 RS (GTA). Rick and Reed had a mixed weekend ... early internal gearbox problems sidelined Rick for the sprint race / Reed qualified his 911 14th and fought the good fight to bring home 8th overall in his sprint race. On Sunday the father / son duo (2 of the infamous 4 Pistons) ... teamed up for the 90 minute and got out of dodge before the result sheets were even dry...beating out the weather. They both seemed to have a great time, drove a good race and believe they brought home a top 5 finish. Andy Hauck GT3 battled hard with 17 other GTC3 cup cars finishing 5th in class on Saturday. Phillip Martien started 18th and battled up to 10th overall and 4th in GTA for the sprint race....earning the hard charger award for most improved positions.
On Sunday the weather turned ugly at noon brining showers and thunderstorms......both Andy and Phillip threw caution into the wind and battled the elements for 90 minutes. The field was combined of the final 2 enduro groups for a total of 37 cars.
The Wright Tuning crew (Rick Curtin, Paul Nicley, and Jeremy Zurhmley) hustled into action to get both cars ready for the rain and out on the track and called some great pit strategy.
BJ Zacharias started the GT3Rs in the back of the 37 field and brought to the lead...handing it over to Phillip for the final stint. Phillip drove hard through the heavy flooding rain and the rest of the on track chaos for the overall win.
Andy Hauck also drove a terrific stint ...pitting and hand the car over to BJ for the final jog.......finishing 2nd overall and 1st in GTC3. As if there wasn't anymore hardware for the WTI customers to bring home.....Phillip was awarded the workers choice award for the afternoon enduro!
Congrats to all!
